Charlotte Group
Open Big Book AA meeting in Charlotte
Charlotte Group is an open Alcoholics Anonymous Big Book discussion in Charlotte, North Carolina. Anyone interested in AA may attend, including newcomers, family, and friends. Saturdays 7:00–8:00 PM at Caldwell Presbyterian Church, 1609 E 5th St, Charlotte, NC 28204.
What “open” means
An open AA meeting is for anyone who wants to learn about Alcoholics Anonymous. You do not have to identify as an alcoholic to sit in the room. A closed meeting is generally reserved for people who have a desire to stop drinking. We chose open so a nervous first-timer, a family member, or someone who is not sure yet can walk in.
What a Big Book discussion is
We study AA’s basic text, Alcoholics Anonymous, often called the Big Book. The meeting is a discussion of that book, not a lecture series and not a therapy group. Members share experience with the words on the page. The aim is to stay sober and help the next person do the same.
Last Saturday of each month is a lead discussion meeting: a 30-minute speaker followed by discussion.
Who this meeting is for
Newcomers looking for a Saturday night meeting in Charlotte. People who want a Big Book-focused hour rather than a speaker-only format every week. Anyone who searched for an open AA meeting near Uptown or Elizabeth and needs a clear address.
